Moscow - Itar-Tass

The president of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation, Andrei Dyachkov, has been dismissed, a high-ranking official in the military-industrial complex told Itar-Tass on Monday. Dyachkov has been on a sick leave, after which he will not return to his post. “The resignation took place,” the official said adding that necessary procedures are being finalized. The Russian government’s Military-Industrial Commission declined to comment. A source in the United Shipbuilding Corporation confirmed that Dyachkov has been on a sick leave. The rumours on resignation of the United Shipbuilding Corporation chief appeared at the end of April. In particular, at the meeting in Astrakhan, southern Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who is responsible for the country’s defence complex, strongly criticized the corporation’s management for frustrating the plans for the construction of shipyards in the Far East. The United Shipbuilding Corporation is preparing for reorganization. In particular, it develops a new strategy of shipbuilding assets management and enlarges the list of senior officials. The United Shipbuilding Corporation controls 80 percent of all shipbuilding projects in Russia. The government owns a 100 percent stake in the corporation.
