Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in partnership with National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL) hosted an open forum for Dubai’s freight and logistics community at its headquarters in Dubai recently.Atiq Juma Nassib, Senior Director, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, received the delegates including David Phillips, President and Kevin Ennis, Vice President of NAFL along with the speakers at the open forum as the gathering discussed the challenges faced by the sector as well as potential solutions and development areas for training and logistical support to the sector.Welcoming the delegates, Nassib said: “Logistics is very important to Dubai’s economy as the emirate is an East meets West destination and as such Dubai Chamber will always support the development of this sector and the activities of National Association of Freight and Logistics.”Nassib also said: “This particular event seeks to develop our partnership with the NAFL further to the benefit of their members and the wider logistics community and will lead to the advancement in freight forwarding and logistics in Dubai. We encourage businesses to use Dubai Chamber’s services to enhance their operations and help contribute to the emirate’s economic growth.”David Phillips, President of National Association of Freight and Logistics, said: “The UAE and Dubai are among the most flexible logistics hubs in the world. However, in today’s modern age we also have to ensure we are completely secure in what we do, which can impede speed and efficiency.”We are trying to bridge the gap in this respect on several fronts by making the UAE not only flexible, but safe, secure and efficient at the same time. It is only with the help and support of all our stakeholders, including Dubai Chamber, that we can achieve our goal of making the UAE the world’s number one logistics hub,” David Phillips added.Added Kevin Ennis, Vice President of NAFL: “Our association is looking to enhance its working relationship with Dubai Chamber in order to improve overall quality in the sector. We will be looking at ways to improve training and development and to set minimum benchmarks, which will help progress standards in the industry overall.”The National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL) was founded in 1992 in Dubai, to bring together all the major players in the UAE freight forwarding, logistics and shipping industry. Broadly, its main goal is to ensure the UAE’s leading position and Dubai’s pre-eminence in the international freight and transportation fields.NAFL is the official logistics and freight representative of the UAE to FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, based in Zurich, Switzerland.
