The Egyptian government dispatched humanitarian relief aid to Nepal to help its people overcome the impact of the earthquake which jolted the country last month.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday said 18 tons of humanitarian relief aid had been ferried to Nepal in cooperation with the Egyptian embassy in New Delhi.

The statement added that the Egyptian government appreciated the quick response of the Indian government to Egypt's request for sending the aid to the Nepalese people via Indian territories.

Egypt's Ambassador to India Hatem Tageddin had informed the Nepalese ambassador to India of the Egyptian government's decision to send the aid to the quake victims.

Thousands of people were killed and wounded in the earthquake which also destroyed thousands of houses.
