Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Naglaa el Ahwany said that Egypt periodically participates in the meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to discuss the policies of the WB in general and follow up the implementation of the bank's programs in Egypt.
In statements to MENA, Ahwany said that she will hold meetings with WB President Jim Yong Kim and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde along with officials at the International Finance Corporation.
She will also meet with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti, the German minister of economy and international cooperation and a number of South Korean economic officials.
On Egypt's stance from getting a loan from the IMF, Ahwany said that Egypt's previous stance on the loan was due to several technical aspects as it believed it would be better to depend on itself, adding that no one dictates Egypt against its will.
Egypt will continue adopting reform policies for improving the country, she said, adding that the economic and social situation in Egypt needs these reforms.
