Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani asserted readiness to open a new chapter in relations between the two countries and promote Tehran-Ankara economic ties, Sky News Arabia said Sunday.
During a phone call with Erdoğan, Rouhani said “in the past four years, big steps have been taken to develop and deepen ties between Iran and Turkey but to increase the trade figures between the two countries to $30bn, we need to make a jump in relations and cooperation”.
He added “Iran is committed to realization of the $30bn goal of Tehran-Ankara trade figures and currently, the opportunity for this jump in all field of mutual interest exists”.
Referring to regional cooperation between Iran and Turkey, Rouhani said “bilateral and trilateral cooperation with Russia in regional issues, including the Astana negotiations are important and can contribute to regional peace and stability”.
