French President Francois Hollande A number of French media outlets have expressed frustration over the improvement of economic ties between Morocco and Spain .
French media have described Spain’s position as Morocco’s main trading partner as a threat to French interests in Morocco.
French President Francois Hollande, has been blamed for forcing Moroccans to turn to Spain at the expense of the French market, following the approach taken with Moroccans.
France was Morocco’s main trading partner for five decades. The media accuse Hollande of failing to restore relations between the two countries after coming to power in 2012, allowing Madrid to take advantage of the situation.
According to a press release from the Spanish embassy in Rabat, Morocco has become the leading supplier of Spain in Africa while Spain has become Morocco’s first customer in Europe.
