Dubai Customs, DC, has launched a book entitled "Dubai Customs: Mission and Commitment", in an effort to provide a viable documentation of the DC past linking it with its present and as a threshold to the nearby future, highlighting the stages of development and progress while emphasising national, regional and international achievements.
The book was launched at a ceremony attended by Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Federal National Council, FNC, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, UAE cultural leaders, a number of Dubai senior officials and media representatives.
Dubai Customs has also honoured UAE culture pioneers and leaders, in appreciation of their great role in the UAE's movement of enlightenment and culture.
The book aims at promoting the customs culture and simplifying the information of procedures adopted by Dubai Customs in a reader-friendly discourse. It addresses customs' clients, specialists, stakeholders and representatives of the commercial and consular missions who have daily duties and relations with the customs.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, PCFC, expressed his appreciation for the launch of the book as it includes many important sections for the society and business sectors. He said, "Documenting Dubai Customs' track record is very important, as it assumes a leading role in the field of security and support of economy. We want to show this outstanding image and axial role of Dubai Customs by issuing such a book which embodies the stages of great development seen in the emirate as to the commercial movement. So, the book is a good reference for the information included thereon with respect to the history of Dubai, the beginning of customs business, its stages of development and the efforts exerted by Dubai Customs to achieve its vision of being the leading customs department in the world supporting legitimate trade." "DC honours the UAE's cultural leaders during the new book launch ceremony in token of appreciation to their great role in the modern renaissance of the country, besides their active and tangible contribution to the development and enrichment of the UAE culture. They have long supported the cultural movement in the UAE, in line with the wise leadership directives in granting culture a major priority attributed to its eminent role in nurturing thinkers and innovators alike who are the hallmark and change catalysts of developed countries. Finally, they deserve to be thanked, appreciated and honoured." Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said, "This book provides traders and investors with information about the facilities offered by Dubai Customs." Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication at Dubai Customs, said, "The book will be available in a digital format on the Dubai Customs website to reach as many customers and interested people as possible."
