Jeddah - Arabstoday

The Traffic Department has stressed that it would not back down from implementing the Saher system, adding that the rule applies to Royal Court cars. “Nobody is above the law. We have received a statement from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s court stating actual users of its cars to apply Saher penalties to traffic violators,” Okaz quoted a department official as saying. The official disclosed plans to establish Saher cameras in more cities and streets and enhance the system’s capability to monitor violations. “We’ll also solve the issue of charging the highest fee shortly,” he added. The fines collected by the department would be deposited with the account of the SAMA. The government will pay 30 percent of the contract value to the company implementing the project after eight months. If the company fails to set up adequate number of cameras within the specific time or violates contract terms it would not receive payment in the fourth year. The Saher system will be fully managed by Saudis after they are provided with necessary training and given a salary of SR4,500. From Arabnews
