Former president Mohamed Morsi along with 24 others, including lawyers and political activists, will stand trial Saturday before the criminal court over charges of insulting the judicial authority.
Among the defendants are former MP and lawyer Essam Sultan, former parliament speaker Saad el Katatny, former MPs and Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members Mohamed el Beltagy and Sobhy Saleh, former MPs Mostafa el Naggar, Hamdy el Fakhrany and Amr Hamzawy, former parliamentary councils minister Mohamed Mahsoub, Islamist preachers Wagdi Ghoneim and Youssef el Qaradawy, and software programmer and activist Alaa Abdel Fattah.
Also involved in the case are Ahmed Hassan el Sharqawy, a journalist at MENA, editor in chief of Sawt al Umma newspaper Abdel Hamid Qandil, TV presenter at Misr 25 satellite channel Noureddin Abdel Hafez and head of Faraeen satellite channel Tawfiq Okasha.
