Islamabad - KUNA

A blast killed at least 12 people, including eight policemen, and wounded 21 others in Quetta city of southwestern Pakistani province Balochistan on Thursday. According to a senior police official, unknown militants targeted the vehicle of police's Rapid Response Force (RFF) through a remote control bomb in Eastern Bypass area of Quetta. The explosive material was planted in a car parked on the roadside and exploded with a huge blast when vehicle of RRF reached the spot, the police official. Bomb disposal experts said over 100 kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast. The explosion destroyed the police vehicle and damaged nearby buildings. Security forces cordoned off the scene and carried a search operation. The injured people were shifted to the nearby civil hospital in Quetta where emergency was imposed to ensure urgent treatment to the injured. Death toll may rise as many of the injured people are in critical condition.
