Speaking at the conference on Turkey and Europe, Turkey's Permanent Representative at the EU, Ambassador Selim Yenel stressed that many circles say Turkey was not in an economic crisis as it is not in the EU. "Perhaps, had Turkey been in the EU, the Union may not have been in an economic crisis," Ambassador Yenel underlined. Another speaker at the conference, Turkish Ambassador in Rome, Hakki Akil said that Turkey should do everything possible for its EU process. "We should let the Turkish people decide on the EU as in the Norwegian example," Akil also said.
