Environment Department of Dubai Municipality will be a part of UAE delegation to participate in 11th Member Nations' Meeting for Ramsar Convention for wetlands, commencing tomorrow in Romania. Mohammed AbdulRahman Hassan, Head of Section, Marine Environment'&' Wildlife at DM will represent the civic body in the delegation. The meeting held at the parliament house at Bucharest ,capital city of Romania will discuss new developments, share experience and information regarding implementation of Ramsar Convention. Plans and programs designed by member countries will also be focused in the meeting held under the theme Wetlands: home and destination'. The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. Dubai's Ras Al Khore Wildlife Sanctuary, of Dubai Municipality falls under the Ramser Convention. It is considered as first internationally recognised and protected wetland area in the Convention and the third such site in the GCC.
