Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc and Ugandan Minister of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives Amelia Anne Kyambadde penned on Wednesday the agreed minutes of Turkey-Uganda joint economic commission meeting in Ankara. Arinc said that the foreign trade volume between the two countries was $26 million at the end of 2012 , and Turkey's exports constituted $23 million of this figure, adding, "In order to have a balanced and sustainable commerce I do believe that we have to promote the companies to import more from Uganda." Arinc said that current commercial, economic and investment relations between the two countries were not reflecting the real potential, and in order to improve the relations, the two countries had to start the negotiations to sign an economic cooperation agreement as soon as possible." Kyambadde stressed that they would strengthen the relations with Turkey, and said that they would finalize the agreement at the end of the year.
