Turkey's unemployment rate in April was 9.3 percent while the average of European Union (EU) and 14 EU countries saw higher jobless figures. The youth unemployment rate in euro zone was 23.5 percent in April while youth unemployment in Turkey was 17.5 percent. According to Turkey's statistics authority, TurkStat, the unemployment rate in the 17-member euro zone was 12.1 percent while in the 28-member EU it was 11 percent and in Turkey it was 9.3 percent. Based on countries with highest youth unemployment figures, Greece leads with 59.2 percent as of April, followed by Spain with 56.2 percent, Croatia with 52.1, Portugal with 42.3 percent, Italia with 39.9 percent, and Slovakia with 34.1 percent.
