Dr Rashid Alleem, Director General Sharjah Department of Seaports & Customs and Sharjah Free Zones Authority met with Datuk Seri Mohammed Ali Bin Mohammed Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka, Malaysia and discussed the ways to enhance bilateral economic relations between both countries. Hamriyah Free Zone authority has participated in the Third Muslim Business & Investment Zone Conference and exhibition that was held in Jakarta from Sept.12-16, which aims at strengthening economic integration between Muslim countries. Rashid Al Leem remarked the 3rd Muslim Business Investment Zone conference and exhibition as one of the most important economic events of the Muslim world for economic business integration. Dr Rashid highlighted Sharjah’s significance as an investment hub with two fast-growing, successful and dynamic free zones, Sharjah International Airport Free Zone (SAIF Zone) and Hamriyah Free Zone Authoruty (HFZA) offering best infrastructure facilities and high quality services to welcome foreign investment in various sectors like manufacturing, trade and services. Highlighting the success of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, he added that HFZA encompasses 5,700 companies from across 140 countries and by attracting investment of more than $6 billion in FDI (foreign direct investment) to the region, HFZA has strengthened its enviable position as one of the fastest-growing business hubs in the Middle East and reputed as “a hotbed for entrepreneurs”. The event was a gathering of Business leaders, Government officials and corporate players, was jointly organised by the Islamic corporation and Indonesia Chamber of commerce. Representatives from 35 countries have attended the conference while more than 70,000 visitors were visited the exhibition. Organisation of Islamic Co-operation is anticipated as the second largest international body after the United Nations. “I believe that in today’s world where tensions prevail over religious, political and other differences, conducting responsible business practices effectively serves as a way to foster peace, promote economic development and increase social harmony.
