Sharjah Charity Society (SCS) has revealed that it had carried out humanitarian and charitable projects abroad in the tune of AED 70.4 million last year. Mohammed Hamdan Al Zari, Head of Project Department, SCS, said relief, health, religious, educational and development projects were implemented in scores of poor African and Asian countries without distinction as to race, colour, or national or ethnic origin. He said that last year saw the construction of 605 mosques in Asia and another 352 in Africa with combined costs of AED 50 mn. In regards to drinking water projects, he added that AED 1.1 mn were spent to drill 2200 wells in Asia and another 406 in Africa.
