Romania regrets that the gas pipeline project Nabucco will not be realized. Thus the country's Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean commented today the decision to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe from the field Shah Deniz in the Caspian Sea through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline bypassing Romania. “In geopolitical sense the pipeline project Nabucco is very important. Romania regrets that it will not be implemented, but the situation is not as dramatic since we have alternative energy sources,” said Corlatean. According to him, the contract remains in force in the country to supply liquefied natural gas transfer from Azerbaijan. The total cost of the main gas pipeline Nabucco, through which it was supposed to supply gas from Azerbaijan to Europe bypassing Russia, is estimated at circa 8 billion euros. Romanian company Transgaz has already invested in its development around 23 million euros.
