Head of a Qatari business association has invited Turkish companies to mull opportunities in the Arab country's projects to ready its infrastructure as the host nation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. "We have allocated $100 billion for the infrastructure projects in our country in the next ten years. We invite Turkish companies for these projects. Turkish companies will succeed in these projects with their experience. At the moment 35 Turkish companies are actively working in Qatar," Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani, president of Qatari Businessmen Association, told a Turkish-Qatari business meeting organized in Istanbul hosted by Turkey's Foreign Economic Relations Board, or DEIK. "Turkey is a gateway to Europe for us and at the some time it has developed extensively in terms of industry, commerce and economy. We can further develop our economic cooperation," Al-Thani said. Also speaking at the meeting, Mithat Yenigun, president of DEIK's Turkish Qatari-Business Council, said that Turkish companies had carried out nearly $12 billion worth of construction projects as of 2012. "We would like economic relations between Turkey and Qatar to develop further. Turkey has invested over 100 billion dollars in the global capital in the last decade. We invite more Qatari investment in Turkey. Investing in Turkey is investing in the future," Yenigun said.
