Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said the government is keen to support the agricultural sector and find solutions for problems facing this sector. He said the government is willing to support just and logical demands of the productive sectors, adding the government will not make promises it cannot fulfill, especially that the Kingdom is currently facing difficult economic conditions. The prime minister made the remarks at a meeting with president and members of the General Association of Jordanian Farmers, GAJF, Deir Alla Farmers Union and other agricultural societies in the presence of the ministers of industry and trade, communications and information technology, agriculture, municipal affairs and water. Ensour highlighted the role of the public sector in facilitating measures for the private sector to acheive its economic objectives. He instructed the concerned ministers to examine problems and challenges facing the agricultural sector and find solutions for them, mainly those related to marketing and opening new markets for agricultural products. Ensour voiced the government’s readiness to study the possibility of amending law of the General Association of Jordanian Farmers and present it to the next Lower House of Parliament.
