Sohar Free Zone Company signed recently at the Commerce and Industry Ministry a contract with the First Global Company for constructing the second phase of the infrastructure of Sohar Free Zone. The contract was signed by Sheikh Sa'ad bin Mohammed al Mardhouf al Sa'adi, Commerce and Industry Minister and Board Chairman of Sohar Industrial Port Company and Jamal Tawfiq Aziz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sohar Free Zone with Mohan Babu, CEO and C. Tourou, General Manager of the First Global Company. It is worth mentioning that the management of Sohar Free Zone is the responsibility of Sohar Free Zone Company. The project is a joint venture between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and the SKIL Infrastructure of India. A Royal Decree was issued for constructing the free zone in December 2010 in addition to stipulating the rules that regulate all the incentives given to Sohar Free Zone. The First Global Company is one of the highly-classified companies as it enjoys a good reputation. The company has already executed operations in Sohar as it successfully constructed a wide range of roads, dams and buildings in the Sultanate. The company will complete the operations of phase (2) within 240 days. The contract includes road construction, lighting, water supplies and other infrastructure projects. This contract operations will start with the approaching completion of the operations of Phase (1) that included land leveling, construction of fences worth about  RO. 1.2 million (USD 3 million). These operations were executed by Al Naboodah Contracting Company. On the other hand, electricity and water, telecommunications companies will start supplying their services to investors on time. As per the contract, Sohar Free Zone Company will ensure the provision of 1st class infrastructure to the investors on time. Sohar Free Zone is a multi-industry zone that can attract investors in various sectors including the transformational industries, logistics and manufacturing. Today's contract is a very significant step towards developing Sohar Free Zone.   It is wroth noting that a number of potential accredited international and regional investors have registered their lots in Sohar Free Zone and some of them are currently present in the zone to start the construction works for setting up their projects that will benefit from the incentives given by Sohar Free Zone, in addition to different facilities and services in relation with the port.
