Halul - QNA

HE the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum (QP) Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada inaugurated a number of projects, including the expansion and development of Halul Port, oil shipping and export of crude oil, as well as new central maintenance workshops in Halul Island. Dr. Al-Sada also inaugurated new buildings belonging to the Fire Department in the island and the new Al Maha Club. He also laid the foundation stone of Halul Island martitime cable which is expected to be completed in mid-2016. This will provide Halul around 200 megawatts of electricity from Ras Laffan through two maritime cables as well as to a 600-bed residential building with full facilities that are expected to be completed by mid-2015. During the opening of the expansion and development of Halul Port Project, Dr. Al-Sada inaugurated the loading of oil tanker No. 5393 with crude oil. Managers from Qatar Petroleum and senior managers from joint ventures of Qatar Petroleum, including Total, Occidental Qatar Petroleum Company and Qatar Petroleum Development Company were present at the inauguration. The series of inaugurations made in Halul Island yesterday, came in the context of QP offshore operations management celebrations marking the offshore operations day 2012 in which 50 years of success in the operation, production and export of oil and gas from offshore fields in Qatar, were reviewed. The events started with a briefing on the safety measures on the island for all participants followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an. QP's Offshore Fields Marine Operations Director Mubarak Aweidah Hajri welcomed the gathering and expressed his pleasure at the progress that the offshore operations has achieved in production and export operations without major incidents.
