Mexico and Japan on Friday signed 14 bilateral cooperation agreements covering such areas as education, economy and environment.
The deals were aimed at, among others, boosting bilateral exchanges in academic fields, facilitating small and medium-sized Mexican companies' entry into Japanese markets and spurring the use of renewable energy, President Enrique Pena Nieto's office said in a statement.
The agreements were signed during Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to the North American country.
At a joint press conference, Pena Nieto and Abe expressed their willingness to continue strengthening dialogue and cooperation in all areas of the bilateral relationship.
Mexico is the first leg of Abe's five-nation tour of Latin America, which will also take him to Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Chile and Brazil.
