Malaysia's Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), through its wholly-owned subsidiary TNB Repair and Maintenance (TNB REMACO), and Kharafi National of Kuwait have signed an agreement for the operations and maintenance of Shuaiba North Co-Generation (Power and Distillation) Plant in Kuwait. The seven-year contract is worth KD 88.882 million or about RM one billion, TNB said in a statement. The co-generation plant owned by Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity and Water is located within the Shuaiba Industrial Authority Area, about 40 kilometers from Kuwait City. The dual-fired plant (natural gas and distillate) has the capacity to generate around 780 Megawatt power and 45 Million Imperial Gallons Per Day of distilled water. The plant was commissioned in 2010. In January, Kuwaits Central Tender Committee issued a letter of award for the joint venture between TNB Remaco and Kharafi National for the operations and maintenance of the Shuaiba North Co-Generation (Power and Distillation) Plant.
