Kuala Lumpur - XINHUA

Malaysia attracted 38.774 billion Malaysian ringgit (about 11.66 billion U.S. dollars) in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2013, exceeding the country's highest ever recorded FDI of 37.325 billion Malaysian ringgit in 2011 by 3.9 percent, Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said here on Thursday. The figure saw an increase of 24 percent compared with the 31. 116 billion Malaysian ringgit FDI recorded for 2012, it said, adding that this was achieved despite the slow recovery and uncertain global economic conditions. MITI said all economic sectors registered increases in FDI inflows last year, with the investments mainly in the manufacturing (37.6 percent) and services (28.8 percent), as well as mining (28.7 percent) sub-sectors.
