The employees of Lebanon's public sector staged Wednesday a general strike in response to the call by the Labors Coordination Committee, in protest against the government's delay in referring the salaries adjustment law to the House for ratification, MTV reported. The report added that during the strike, a sit-in was organized in front of the official headquarters of the Lebanese government at the Grand Serail, where the committee's officials delivered speeches warning the government of further delay and threatening of an open-end strike in the case. On a related note, Labor Minister Salim Jreissati told the Voice of Lebanon radio that the skirmish between the government and the coordination committees is not at the right time neither at the right place. He said "It was agreed with the committee tasked to study the high cost of living indicator on the concept of justice and on dividing the scale", assuring that the battle now is on means to find suitable revenues.
