Minister of Labor Nidal Qatamin discussed Sunday with newly-appointed Director of Middle East and North Africa Region – World Bank Farid al-Haj ways to enhance cooperation with the Bank in various labor fields. The minister noted the Bank’s role in the development of vocational training and employment sector as well as its support for the National Strategy for Employment. Al-Haj stressed the World Bank’s keenness to help Jordan develop technical abilities and capabilities, achieve progress and enhance institutional capacity-building. He reviewed the role that could be played by the Bank to back the ministry’s efforts to implement the national strategy for employment. The WB official, who is on a two-day visit to Jordan, said he will come back to the Kingdom in the next few weeks for more contacts with officials to enhance cooperation between the World Bank and Jordan.
