Japan donated $6.4 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in ceremonies held Monday at the Representative Office of Japan to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported today that the donation will provide 300,000 Palestinian refugees with food during the second half of 2014. Last year, Japan made its largest ever donation to UNRWA, with a total of $28.8 million. Japan's Representative to the Palestinian Authority Junya Matsuura reiterated during the ceremony the commitment of Japan to supporting the Palestine refugee community. For his part, Commissioner-General of UNRWA Filippo Grandi expressed the Agency's gratitude for the donation.
