New Delhi - XINHUA

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday reiterated that reforms initiated by the central government were an ongoing process for the good of the country. "We will do what is good for the country. Reforms are not one- off process," the Prime Minister told the media in the national capital, clearly unfazed by some ruling allies sharply critical of the government's recent economic reforms like hike in diesel price and approval of foreign direct investment in the retail sector. Singh also shrugged away opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's allegations that the recent economic reforms were "aimed at pleasing the U.S.". "What has the US got to do with this. We are not a country to be dictated by others," he said. The ruling Congress-led United Progressive Alliance's eastern ally, the Trinamul Congress from the state of West Bengal, had last week withdrew support in the wake of the government's recent economic reforms.
