Jeddah - Arabstoday

Abdulaziz Al-Awad, deputy executive manager at the National Guard Health Affairs and head of employment of persons with special needs, announced a special committee for the employment of persons with special needs had been set up in compliance with the directions of the Royal Court to engage persons with handicaps in the development march toward the Saudization of jobs. In his opening speech during the launch of the awareness campaign of the World Day for Persons with Disabilities at King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Jeddah, he stressed on the social responsibility of his department and on the promotion of equality in job opportunities. He said the special committee that had been formed for this purpose included members of different departments and institutions. “Mechanisms of employment of persons with disabilities start with designing an application form that specifies the type of disability and its severity. The committee will then make recommendations for a suitable job for the applicant. It also communicates with the concerned parties to ensure the applicant’s health and his ability to perform the assigned job. Brig. Khaled Bakalka, executive director of operations at the National Guard’s Health Affairs in the western sector, said the National Guard’s health department pays the greatest attention to the World Day for Persons with Disabilities. He added that the employment of persons with special needs aimed to engage them in the job market in accordance with the strategic direction to provide them with support and help. A cultural forum and exhibition will accompany this campaign at the main entrance of the outpatient’s center for two days. Additional events will be held on Wednesday in Red Sea Mall in Jeddah.
