France's industry production fell by 1.4 percent in June from a month earlier due to decline in mining and food processing activities, data released by the national statistics bureau INSEE showed on Friday. France, the second economy in the eurozone, recorded a decline in manufacturing output by 0.4 percent pulled down by 5.4 percent drop in mining and energy businesses after they had risen by 2.3 percent in May. Production of food processing sector was also down by 2.9 percent over the period while figures of transport equipment registered a negative trend following a 0.3 decrease. However, quarterly figures showed a 1.4 percent increase in the country's industrial production for the second quarter with manufacturing output rising by 1.5 percent, according to INSEE's monthly data.
