Belgrade - XINHUA

Aleksandar Vucic, Deputy Prime Minster of Serbian Government will meet Saturday with Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former IMF Director, to talk about his potential engagement in Serbian Government as economic adviser , Serbian popular daily Blic says Friday. Sinisa Mali, economic adviser to Mr. Vucic confirmed to newspaper that he met Tuesday, with former International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director and French Minister of Finances in Paris, but declined to give any more details in advance. Strauss-Kahn "confirmed his interest to help Serbian economy," Blic daily writes, quoting anonymous source in Serbian Government, adding that French expert is about to send his preliminary economic action plan to the officials in Belgrade. As newspaper writes, his major duties would be to advise Serbian Government on restructuring State Finances system and Public Debt, but most of all to propose measures that would initiate economic growth of stagnant Serbian economy. Expectations of Strauss-Kahn are great; Blic quotes words of anonymous source in Serbian Government, as French expert has excellent performance in this kind of job. During his mandate as Minister of Economics Finance and Industry (1997-1999) French economy has flourished, with some 300,000 new work posts opening. In 1998, Strauss-Kahn became a leading member of the French Socialist Party and won regional elections in the Ile-de-France region (Paris and suburbs). He was elected head of IMF in 2007, and was seen as strongest Socialist Party candidate for French Presidential election in 2012. However, his forced resignation from post of IMF director, because of the charges for the alleged sex crime in New York hotel in May 2011 - which were later dismissed, prevented him from running in 2012.
