The UAE Higher Organising Committee for hosting World Expo 2020 on Thursday held its third meeting at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The meeting, chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, discussed steps taken to directly and indirectly communicate with friendly and sisterly countries in order to promote the UAE as a destination to host Expo 2020 and for Dubai to win the bid. The UAE is up against bids from Brazil, Turkey, Thailand and Russia. The committee’s meeting comes prior to the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) General Assembly meeting in Paris in November. The committee discussed the main plan for moving forward with the bid and the report that it will be forwarding to BIE during its meeting in December. The report contains 14 different sections that highlight Dubai’s advantages, such as logistic and financial capabilities, to ensure the success of the international event. During the meeting, Shaikh Ahmad met with officials from national companies that will be sponsoring the event, which are Etisalat, Emirates NBD, Dubai International Airport, Emirates Airlines and Jumeirah Hospitality. Shaikh Ahmad instructed the officials of these companies to consolidate all their logistic and financial resources to promote Dubai as a host for World Expo 2020.
