Dubai recorded an eight per cent increase in foreign trade of electronics items and their accessories that reached Dh51 billion in the first quarter of the year compared to Dh47 billion in the same quarter last year, according to Dubai Customs. According to the statistical data produced by the Statistics Section at the Strategy and Corporate Excellence  Department of Dubai Customs, the electronics imports during the first quarter of the current year reached Dh28 billion against Dh27 billion in the first quarter of 2011 while the exports and re-exports during the first quarter of the current year accounted for Dh23 billion, compared with Dh20 billion in the same period of 2011. As regard to  the articles of electronics imports and their accessories, telephones for cellular networks and wireless networks took up about 37 per cent of the imports, followed by portable digital automatic data processing machines, color terminal for receiving satellite broadcast, storage units and digital still video cameras. For the exports, portable digital automatic data processing machines took up 34.4 per cent of the exports, followed by telephones for cellular networks  and wireless networks, ignition wiring sets used in vehicles, aircraft and ships, semiconductor media  and electrical cables.
