Dubai - Arabstoday

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to increase its percentage of UAE national employees to 70 per cent in the next three years, its director general Hamad Buamim said on Wednesday. The announcement comes as part of a new Emiratisation initiative called ‘Fursa: Together We Shape Your Future’ which will see 15 new UAE national graduates join the non-profit organisation’s staff in the coming three months. Five graduates have already been employed by Dubai Chamber in various departments and a further 10 will be recruited in the coming three months. The initiative has been developed in line with the directive of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to train and empower young nationals. Buamim said: “Dubai Chamber is committed to employing more UAE nationals and our Fursa initiative will not only help enhance Emiratisation, but also the skills and future prospects of our younger generation as we plan to increase the percentage of UAE national staff to 70 per cent in the coming three years . Buamim said: “Our new young graduates have been selected because they showed ambition to develop their work skills and build a successful career. We have chosen graduates who do not have any work experience in order to give them a chance to demonstrate their abilities and build on their talents.” “Dubai Chamber provides an excellent environment for career development. We invest in all our employees by providing annual training opportunities and work hard to provide a healthy and supportive workplace. I am sure these new graduates will thrive in this environment,” he added. The new recruits will be working in external relations, economic research, business support, the centre for responsible business and administration departments. One recruit, Maha Al Hamed, who studied at Zayed University has joined the Centre for Responsible Business. She thanked Dubai Chamber for offering her the opportunity to be part of the Fursa scheme and praised the organisation’s HR department for their professional work to process her application. Another recruit, Sherin Al Ansari, a graduate of American University in Dubai, has joined the Business Support department. She said that working at Dubai Chamber would help her develop the necessary skills to climb the corporate ladder and that she was attracted to the organisation’s workplace environment and because of its commitment to eco-friendly practices.
