Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Malta will sign a Blue Med agreement, on Friday, in Limassol to establish a Functional Airspace Block. As Famagusta Gazette reports quoting an official press release, the functional airspace block constitutes an effort to achieve a more effective operation of the air traffic control network. Research has shown that the network stands to have a positive effect on both air space users and airlines. The agreement will be signed on the sidelines of the Single European Sky conference ''A time for action''. Minister of Communications and Works Efthymios Flourentzou will be signing the agreement on behalf of Cyprus along with Greek Minister of Transport Kostis Hadjidakis, Maltese Minister of Transport Austin Gatt and Italian Deputy Minister of Transport Mario Ciaccia. EU Commission Vice President Siim Kallas will also attend the event.
