Trade between Cambodia and Thailand increased by 41 percent in the first eight months of 2012, according to statistics provided by the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh on Wednesday. From January to August this year, the two-way trade amounted to 2.72 billion U.S. dollars, up 41 percent from 1.93 billion U.S. dollars a year earlier. Thailand's exports to Cambodia stood at 2.55 billion U.S. dollars in the eight months, up 41 percent from 1.81 billion U.S. dollars a year ago, whilst Cambodia's exports to Thailand reached 168 million U.S. dollars, up 34 percent from 125 million U.S. dollars. Thailand's main products exported to Cambodia included vehicles, petroleum, processed goods, building materials, fruits and vegetables. In exchange, Cambodia primarily exported agricultural products, used garments, recyclable metal and fish. Last year, the two neighbors' trade volume was 3.08 billion U.S. dollars, up 21 percent year-on-year.
