Caglayan received Houston Mayor Annise Parker and a delegation of businessmen in Turkish capital Ankara on Friday. Minister Caglayan thanked Parker for her engagement for the development of ties between Houston and Turkey in fields of economy, politics and diplomacy and added although US and Turkey were two important allies, their friendship has not had its positive reflection on the volume of their bilateral trade. Caglayan noted that the US made 10 times more imports than Turkey's imports and 15 times more exports than Turkey's exports and reminded, "Unfortunately Turkey and US do not have a balanced trade. Turkey's exports to the US was 5.6 billion dollars while US exports to Turkey was 14.1 billion dollars last year. We have a commercial dialogue like an unrequited love."
