Public Relations & Media Director at the Ministry of Works (MoW) Fahad Buallay revealed that the total number of service requests that the Ministry received during 2013 amounted to 1270 requests, with an average of 11 requests a day mostly covering the Roads Sector.‘The number of requests covering the Roads Sector reached 969 requests, while the Sanitary Sector received 301 requests. The Ministry responded to 503 requests within 10 days of receiving them’ explained Buallay.‘As for the remainder of requests, we took the needed time to assess them and respond to them accordingly,’ he added.Buallay explained that September 2013 received the highest number of requests; amounting to 146 requests. December comes next with 141 requests, and then November (131 requests), October and February (110 requests for each), May (102 requests), August (100 requests), April (95 requests), March (89 requests), January (84 requests), then July with 83 requests and finally June with a total number of 79 requests.Statistics revealed that the Ministry received most requests via phone calls (692 requests), then comes the media with 311 requests, the radio with 79 requests and complaints, Twitter with 50 request, Instagram with 22 requests and 36 requests through personal visits by the complainants, 14 requests via mail and 4 via fax.Mr. Buallay reiterated the Ministry’s keenness to urgently respond to citizens and respond to all requests and complaints, in line with the Strategy that aims to improve communication with people and upon directives from HRH the Prime Minister and HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister; stressing the importance of attending to citizens’ needs and complaints.Buallay also urged all citizens to communicate with the Ministry of Works, represented by the Public Relations & Media Directorate, on the number 17-545544 during the business hours, or the fax 17-516292, or send an email to the address complain@works.gov.bh.The Sanitary Services Hotline can be reached on the number 80001810, while reports relating to traffic signals defects can be made to the hotline number 80008383.
