Tokyo stocks rose 1.60 percent in the morning session of Thursday as investors took heart from the yen' depreciation, overnight gains on Wall Street, and positive Chinese economic data. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 225.01 points, from Wednesday to 14,267.18. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 13.72 points, or 1.19 percent, to 1, 163.77. Gainers were led by brokerage, paper and pulp, insurance and automaker issues.
