Tokyo shares ended lower Monday as trading was subdued following the closure of many overseas markets due to the Easter holiday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 3.89 points, or 0. 03 percent, from Friday at 14,512.38. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.97 points, or 0.17 percent lower at 1,171.40. Decliners were led by real estate, construction and pharmaceutical shares, while mining, oil and paper shares gained ground. The turnover was about 1,307.4 billion yen (12.74 billion U.S. dollars).
