Nikkei edged up Monday on bargain hunting after losing more than 1 percent on Friday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average finished up 6.77 points, or 0.07 percent, from Friday at 10,018.24. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange ended 0.71 point, or 0.08 percent, lower at 851.82. Gainers included the mining, nonferrous materials and wholesale sectors. Decliners included the securities, electricity and gas, and air transport sectors. The turnover was about 1,938 billion yen (about 23.46 billion U. S. dollars).
