Tokyo stocks ended 0.08 percent higher Thursday as a rally in crude oil prices lifted market sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 16.01 points, or 0.08 percent, from Wednesday at 19,885.77. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 10. 61 points, or 0.67 percent higher at 1,599.42.
Major gainers included mining, energy and banking issues.
The turnover was 2,815.8 billion yen (about 23.66 billion U.S. dollars).
