The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday gained by nearly 1 percent and closed at 9,334.28 points.
The situation in Ukraine did not get worse on Tuesday and investors considered that as a good sign, according to the German business daily Handelsblatt. The DAX index added 88.95 points, or 0.96 percent.
Continental AG led the risers' list, up by 3.12 percent. Deutsche Post AG and the utilities company RWE AG St advanced by 2.12 percent, followed by Deutsche Lufthansa AG and ThyssenKrupp AG, up by 2.1 percent and 1.95 percent.
Deutsche Telekom AG and Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. were the only two shares that suffered losses on Tuesday, each down by 0.44 percent and 0.29 percent.
The turnover was 2.13 billion euros (around 2.85 billion U.S. dollars). Bayer AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 181.83 million euros. (1 euro = 1.34 U.S. dollars)
