Bucharest - XINHUA

Moldova's Prime Minister Iurie Leanca on Thursday invited Chinese companies to invest in his country, when speaking at the inauguration of a Moldo-Chinese Investment Forum in Chisinau, capital city of Moldova. The political relations between the two states are very good, and the bilateral economic cooperation will significantly develop in the coming years, said Leanca. "The economic ties between our countries do not reflect the commercial potential by far. We still have much to do to increase our products' competitiveness on the Chinese market, as well as to popularize our traditional products that have already found their place on other markets," said the prime minister. "Moldova is interested in the attraction of strategic partners. It is important to have Chinese companies too, among the future potential investors," said Leanca. "I am sure that today's forum, as well as the presence of business people from both countries, will allow us developing strong trade relations, in particular as regards the growth of wine exports. We hope that this event will contribute to the attraction of direct Chinese investments into the country," he said. The Chinese companies are interested in investing in Moldova, visiting Deputy Minister of Commerce of China Jiang Zengwei told the forum. According to the official, Moldova offers opportunities to the Chinese companies owing to its geographic position and the fact that it has a free trade agreement with the CIS countries and plans to sign such an agreement with the EU. "We must use Moldova's advantages," stressed the deputy minister, underlining the Chinese investors' interest in taking part in infrastructure projects in Moldova and China's intention to increase the imports of Moldovan wine. In their meeting, Leanca urged the Chinese investors to participate in the newly-launched privatization process, while Jiang pointed out that there were all the prerequisites for fostering the trade and boosting the bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of investment and infrastructure development.
