Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 182,000 Fiesta subcompacts to fix a problem with the side air bags, the Detroit News reported Tuesday. The recall covers 2011-13 Fiesta subcompacts built at Ford's plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico, the report said. The recall includes more than 154,000 in the United States and nearly 28,000 in Canada. When the front passenger seat is empty, the rear right seating position side-curtain airbag may not inflate in a crash, it said. The car maker said it will reprogram the vehicles to ensure that the airbag in the rear deploys, saying there are no crashes or injuries related to the issue in the United States. Michigan-based Ford notified dealers on Oct. 3 to stop selling the vehicles until the issue was fixed.
