Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ) has been targeting specific foreign investors from countries of growing significance within its tenant make up during 2012. European and American companies topped the freezone’s list of new tenants during the first half of 2012, expected to increase in the latter half of the year following the German, British and American networking events organised recently. The UK, US and Germany have continually been regions of increasing growth for Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA), despite the economic challenges of recent years, representing eight, seven and six per cent of total tenants respectively. Of new tenants at DAFZA in the first half of 2012, European, UK and American companies accounted for more than one third (37 per cent) of the total number. The events were hosted by Nasser Al Madani, assistant director general of DAFZA, giving businesses the opportunity to find out more about the regional marketplace and how DAFZA supports and drives business growth. “We have seen the most significant increase in business from Europe, specifically Germany and UK in addition the States over the first half of 2012, said Nasser Al Madani. “The events were an opportunity for our team to meet with companies specifically looking at opportunities within Dubai and the UAE.” Strategically located next to Dubai International Airport and with all necessary processes and procedures available on site, DAFZA has firmly cemented its reputation as an unrivalled business hub for companies looking to access freezone opportunities in the region. Big brand names from across Germany, the USA and the UK have already taken up presence in the freezone, such as ACE Hardware, Man & Hummel & Caparo Testing Technologies. “We anticipate a further increase in companies from these geographies in the latter half of this year and our recent events have provided an excellent opportunity to connect with these prospects and educate them on the benefits of freezone business,” concluded Al Madani.
