Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the names of prominent speakers for the 5th Dubai-Hamburg Business Forum being held in the emirate on March 22.

Representing leading organisations from Dubai and Germany, over 10 speakers will participate in four panel discussions shedding light on four major economic sectors of mutual interest while exploring new horizons for fruitful cooperation between the business communities of Dubai and Hamburg.

Organised under the theme, "Internet of Things: Innovation to Connect", in cooperation with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, this 5th session of the forum offers ample scope for establishing joint ventures in four important sectors including Public Sector Solutions for Smart Urban Living, Logistics, Health and Energy and is followed by field visits to emirate's strategic economic and trade centres for the Hamburg delegation.

The forum will be addressed by Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, and Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber , Fritz Horst Melsheimer, President, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Stefan Gallon, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Dubai, Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber , Prof. Dr. Hans-J?rg Schmidt-Trenz, CEO, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, Senior Vice President - Project Management Office, Expo 2020.

The first session of the forum focusing on Smart Energy will have speakers from both sides talking about Dubai's Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 and Hamburg's "New 4.0" Industry initiative, as both cities are aiming to develop a more sustainable and diversified energy supply. This session will introduce innovative projects on both sides, highlighting opportunities for companies to get involved as well as room for further product development.

The second session on Public Sector Solutions for Smart Urban Living will focus on the process that each of the two cities is undergoing to uncover areas of further efficiency.

Smart Logistics is the topic of the third session with participants talking about how their strategic location and strong logistical infrastructure have elevated both Hamburg and Dubai to key trading hubs in their respective regions.

The session will cover the latest sector updates with a special focus on how the Internet of Things (IoT) has streamlined and could further restructure operations within the area of Maritime and Port Logistics.

The forum, which concludes with the fourth session on Smart Health, will explore how existing applications in this field can be enhanced further and where additional "smart" services can be introduced by the panellists.

Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber , said the forum which offers ample opportunities for participants from both the sides to share expertise in sustainable development, also provides an ideal platform for the promotion and consolidation of trade and economic relations between Dubai and Hamburg.

He further said that the forum encourages the participants to explore joint investment opportunities, sign strategic partnerships and strengthen the channels of communication between the two cities, adding that the city of Hamburg is known as one of the most innovative and smart cities in Germany, especially in the area of maritime industries and innovative and smart services.

On the side-lines of the forum the German delegates will have field trips to Dubai Science Park, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), DP World and Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Since its launch in 2007, the Dubai Hamburg Business Forum has become an ideal platform for joint cooperation and partnership for the business communities of Dubai and Hamburg and has led to a number of successful economic cooperation in various sectors by investors of both the strategic cities.

The Hamburg Metropolitan Region is one of Germany's strongest economic regions and a central trading hub for Northern Europe. The port of Hamburg is one of the world's largest container ports and is an important growth engine for the region. It takes the leading role in Germany in such industries as aviation, logistics, IT, renewable energies and media, while also playing a major global role. Hamburg is the third largest site for the aviation industry worldwide, with major players Airbus and Lufthansa Technik operating large facilities, and more than 30,000 employees in the industry.
