China's southwestern Yunnan provincial government donated relief aid to Myanmar on Friday, where floods have left 88 people dead and tens of thousands of others affected.

The Chinese supplies, loaded by 14 trucks, were shipped via the border gate of Muse and arrived in Mandalay, one of worst-hit areas in Myanmar.

The relief aid included 1,000 bags of rice, 1,000 units of tents, 500 boxes of milk powder, 10,000 boxes of instant noodle, with a total value of 2.41 million yuan (395,081 U.S. dollars).

Speaking at a handover ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Hong Liang said China and Myanmar are fraternal brothers. "Whenever Myanmar is hit by natural disaster, China will never stop assisting the country," he said.

Mandalay region's Minister of National Planning and Economy U Aung Zan expressed thanks to the Chinese border province's help.

Severe flood, triggered by heavy rainfall since June, has affected 13 regions and states in Myanmar, destroying houses, farmland, railway lines, bridges and roads.

The Myanmar government declared late last month four disaster zones in Rakhine, Chin, Sagaing and Magway.

The flood has killed 88 people, affecting more than 330,000 and leaving 474,000 hectares of farmland submerged.
