The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has ratified a minimum age convention no. 138 issued by the International Labor Organization (ILO). The ratifying minutes was signed by Eng. Adel bin Mohammed Faqih, Minister of Labor, and Guy Ryder, Director General of the International Labor Organization, who is visiting Riyadh on the sidelines of the 2nd Arab Forum on Development and Employment, according Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The Convention concerning Minimum Age for Admission to Employment, is an Convention adopted in 1973 by the International Labor Organization. It requires ratifying states to pursue a national policy designed to ensure the effective abolition of child labor and to raise progressively the minimum age for admission to employment or work. In accordance with this convention, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will commit with the minimum age at 15 years old.
