Sheikh Khaled al-Jarrah
Kuwait - KUNA

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah on Thursday lauded the Audit Bureau for being "the early-warning system" for ministers to pin point irregularities and wrongdoings in state departments.
The minister, during today's parliamentary session, dedicated to debating the bureau remarks, said certain irregularities at the ministry of defense had been tackled, in cooperation with the bureau and the National Assembly, related to the C-130J aircraft deal. The Parliament had formed a panel in cooperation with the bureau, which asked for a quarterly report on "financial flows from the contract.
"We have finished the contracts and three C-130J aircraft have put to service and an agreement was reached with the diwan to close the file." In his answer to another remark, made by the bureau, he said the ministry had intended to buy cargo planes, Boeing-747, however the concerned company presented C-70 planes, delivery of which was early, thus the decision to buy the other planes was cancelled.
He alluded delay in responding to the bureau inquiries to complex bureaucratic measures in the department, assuring MPs that there would be further cooperation between his department the diwan.
